Although Exportmaster is sometimes used in stand-alone mode, most implementations involve links to or from other systems. These range from ERP systems such as SAP, Sage 200/500/1000, Oracle Financials, JDA, JDE, MAX, Answer Solutions, Baan, Syspro, Protean, Visibility, etc., and warehouse management systems like Empirica through to smaller financial packages such as Sage 50.
Exportmaster’s interface modules deal with the transfer of transactions and of standing data. They have been designed for maximum configurability in order to minimise the need for bespoke programming or scripting. For IT professionals wishing to undertake their own projects, an ODBC driver for the Exportmaster database is available.
Typical interface applications have included:
- Transferring quotations and orders from Exportmaster to corporate order systems
- Receiving orders into Exportmaster from corporate order systems
- Updating orders in Exportmaster with revised dispatch data from corporate order systems
- Receiving shipments into Exportmaster from manufacturing, warehouse management or corporate order systems
- Combining data from several corporate systems to create a single Exportmaster shipment
- Updating Exportmaster shipments with data from a weighbridge system
- Transferring invoices from Exportmaster into corporate financial systems
- Receiving enquiries into Exportmaster from overseas customers
- Receiving orders into Exportmaster from overseas customers
- Keeping Exportmaster’s products and customers in line with the corporate database
- Refreshing product costs and prices from other systems
Because most software today has been designed to support external links, setting up an interface is now a relatively straightforward matter. Once established, links can be fully automatic or run on demand.
